Ford is working hard on adding a hybrid system to the F-150 and now we know where it will be built.

Until now, it wasn’t clear whether or not the truck would be built at Ford’s Kansas City assembly plant or at the Dearborn Truck plant, but according to a report from Automotive News, it will be in Michigan.

The news came amidst a celebration of 100 years of production at Ford’s Rouge manufacturing facility, which includes the Dearborn Truck plant. Currently, the over 7000 employees at the Rouge facility churn out an F-150 every 53 seconds.

The new hybrid model will be built alongside the gas-powered F-150’s and so far we have no details on the new electrified powertrain.

“It’s going to be a truck that takes you farther, without sacrificing power, and a truck that lets you do more when you get there, with electricity for everything, from your tools to your camping gear,” Executive Chairman Bill Ford told Automotive News. “When it comes to building the best trucks in the world, we never rest. Whether they’re gas, diesel or hybrid — or, when the time comes, fully electric — they will power the world in a sustainable way and remain built Ford tough.”

Besides confirming that the hybrid F-150

will be built at the Rouge facility, Ford also announced a $35 million upgrade to its technical training center, expanding the site by 50 percent.  The F-150 hybrid is part of an $11 Billion push in order to bring 40 different electrified vehicle nameplates to market by 2022.
